Disconnecting and reconnecting your Amazon account

This guide walks you through disconnecting and reconnecting the Amazon accounts linked to your Smart Ads — Amazon Ads Optimiser. You might need to do this if you are switching to a different Amazon account, refreshing a stale connection (for example, after changing your Amazon password), or removing an account you no longer use.

Note: Your 1smart.link subscription supports one Amazon Advertising account at a time. To switch to a different account, you must disconnect the current one first, then connect the new one.

Understand the two connections

Before you disconnect anything, it helps to know that the Ads Optimiser uses two separate connections to Amazon:

ConnectionWhat it powers
Amazon AdvertisingAd spend, ACoS, ROAS, suggestions, Apply actions, AI Insights, and Rules — essentially the entire Ads Optimiser.
Seller Central (SP-API)Organic and total-business metrics — Total Sales, Total Orders, Sessions, Buy Box %, Listing CVR, TACoS, and the per-ASIN TACoS table.

You can disconnect either one independently. The impact of each is very different, so read the relevant section below before you proceed.

Disconnect Seller Central (SP-API) only

This is a soft disconnect. It removes the Seller Central data feed but leaves the Ads Optimiser fully operational.

  1. Open the Smart Ads area of your dashboard.
  2. Locate your connected Seller Central account in your account or connection settings.
  3. Choose the option to disconnect the Seller Central (SP-API) connection.
  4. The disconnect happens immediately — no confirmation prompt is required for this type.

What keeps working

Everything in the Ads Optimiser continues as normal:

  • Dashboard ad spend, ACoS, and ROAS
  • Suggestions and Apply actions
  • AI Insights
  • Rules

What stops working

The following metrics will show a dash (–) instead of a value until you reconnect Seller Central:

  • Total Sales
  • Total Orders
  • Sessions
  • Buy Box %
  • Listing CVR
  • TACoS (both the headline figure and the per-ASIN TACoS table)

No data is deleted. Once you reconnect, these fields begin populating again.

Disconnect the full Amazon Advertising account

This is a bigger action that removes the entire Advertising account connection, not just the Seller Central layer. Because of its impact, the platform asks you to confirm before proceeding.

  1. Open the Smart Ads area of your dashboard.
  2. Locate your connected Amazon Advertising account in your account or connection settings.
  3. Choose the option to disconnect the Advertising account.
  4. A confirmation prompt appears. Read the message carefully — disconnecting removes the account's connection and stops all Ads Optimiser functionality for that account.
  5. Confirm the disconnect.

Once confirmed, the Ads Optimiser no longer has access to any data or actions for that account. Suggestions, Apply actions, AI Insights, Rules, and all ad-performance metrics stop until you connect an account again.

Tip: If you only need to refresh your Seller Central data feed (for example, after organic metrics stopped appearing), use the soft Seller Central disconnect described above rather than disconnecting the full Advertising account.

Reconnect an Amazon account

Whether you disconnected just Seller Central or the full Advertising account, the reconnection process follows the same pattern.

  1. Open the Smart Ads area of your dashboard.
  2. Look for the account dropdown in the top bar of the Ads Optimiser.
  3. From the dropdown, choose the option to connect the account type you need — Amazon Advertising or Seller Central, depending on what you disconnected.
  4. You will be redirected to Amazon's sign-in page. Log in with the Amazon credentials for the account you want to connect.
  5. Grant the requested permissions when prompted by Amazon.
  6. You are returned to the 1smart.link dashboard. A fresh, working connection is now in place.

After reconnecting, data begins populating within a short time. Metrics that previously showed a dash will start displaying values again as the platform pulls fresh information from Amazon.

When you might need to do this

  • Switching accounts. Because only one Advertising account is supported per subscription, disconnect the old account first, then connect the new one.
  • Stale connection. If you changed your Amazon password or revoked access from the Amazon side, your connection may stop working. Disconnect and reconnect to create a fresh authorisation.
  • Tidying up. If you no longer use an Amazon account, disconnecting it keeps your dashboard clean.

Troubleshooting

The reconnection fails or loops back to the sign-in page

Make sure you are logging in with the correct Amazon credentials — the account must have active Amazon Advertising or Seller Central access. If you recently changed your Amazon password, try signing into Amazon directly first to confirm your new credentials work, then return to 1smart.link and try again.

Metrics still show a dash after reconnecting

Give the platform a few minutes to pull fresh data from Amazon. If the dash persists after a reasonable wait, try disconnecting and reconnecting once more. If the problem continues, contact support through your 1smart.link dashboard.
