Website storage: what's included and adding more

Every website on 1smart.link comes with 10 GB of storage. The Storage card on the Website tab shows how much of that you are using, warns you as you get close, and lets you add more space in 10 GB blocks when you need it.

Storage covers everything in your website: media files, plugins, and your store's data.

What's included

Each website includes 10 GB of storage. The card on the Website tab shows your usage in plain figures, for example 3.4 GB of 10.0 GB used, alongside 10.0 GB included.

If your website was created moments ago, the card may instead read We're still measuring your site — this settles shortly after a site is created. That is normal and only lasts a short while.

Near and at the limit

The card changes as your usage climbs, so you get notice before anything stops.

At the limit

An out-of-storage banner and paused uploads

At the limit, a banner reads: Your website is out of storage. New uploads and updates are paused. Free up space, or add storage below — everything resumes automatically.

Note: Your website stays online when you run out of storage. Visitors are not affected — only new uploads and updates are paused until space is available again.

You have two ways to clear the banner. Either free up space by deleting media or content you no longer need, or add a 10 GB block. Either way, uploads and updates resume automatically.

Adding storage

You can add storage at any time, whether or not you have hit the limit.

  1. Go to the Website tab and find the Storage card.

  2. Click Add storage.

  3. Read the confirmation, headed Add 10 GB of storage?. It states the price for your plan and explains that it is billed with your existing subscription — one subscription, one renewal date. Payment is collected now and your new limit applies straight away.

  4. Click Add 10 GB to confirm.

Your new limit applies immediately, so any paused uploads and updates can carry on right away.

How the charge works

Payment is collected as soon as you confirm. The amount taken at that moment covers only the remainder of your current billing period. From your next renewal onwards, the cost of the extra 10 GB is added to your normal subscription charge.

You keep one subscription and one renewal date, no matter how many blocks you add. The price is always shown before you confirm, so there are no surprises — see article 50 for plan details.

You can add more than one block if 10 GB is not enough.

If the payment fails

If the charge cannot be collected, nothing is added and your limit stays the same. The message explains why, for example: Your card was declined for the storage charge, so nothing was added. Please update your payment method and try again.

If your subscription itself has a payment issue, settle that first. Go to Account, then Manage billing, resolve the outstanding payment, and try adding storage again.

Note: If you do not see an Add storage button on your plan, contact support — see article 45.

Removing storage

You can drop a 10 GB block when you no longer need it.

  1. Go to the Website tab and find the Storage card.

  2. Click Remove 10 GB.

  3. Read the confirmation. It explains that your storage limit drops immediately and that There is no refund or credit for time already paid — the change takes effect now.

  4. Confirm to complete the change.

Warning: Removing a block takes effect straight away and no refund or credit is given for time already paid. Only remove a block if you are confident you will not need the space again soon.

When you can't remove a block

You cannot remove a block while your website is using more space than the smaller limit would allow. If that is the case, the card tells you how much space you need to free up first.

Delete unneeded media or content, wait for the usage figure to update, then try Remove 10 GB again.
