Creating your website and choosing your free address

Your 1smart.link membership includes a WordPress website that is built for you in one click. This guide walks through creating it from the Website tab, choosing your free .1smart.site address, and what you will see while the site is being built.

Note: You get one website per account. While your first website exists, a second one cannot be created.

Create your website

Open the Website tab in your dashboard.
You will see the empty state with a Create my website button and the line One click and we build it for you — WordPress, your online store, and everything below, ready to edit in about a minute.
Above the button, find the field labelled Choose your free address, with .1smart.site shown after it.
Type the address you want. As you type, the tab checks the name and shows either <name>.1smart.site is available. or a reason it cannot be used.
Once the name is confirmed as available, click Create my website.

If you would rather not decide now, leave the field blank. An address is picked for you automatically, and you can connect your own domain at any time afterwards.

Naming rules

Your address becomes the web address people type to reach your site, so it is worth keeping it short and easy to say out loud. The field accepts:

3 to 63 characters.
Lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens only. Other characters are removed as you type.
No hyphen at the start or the end of the name.
No two hyphens in a row.

Names that cannot be used

Some names are refused. These include names reserved for the platform, names of large marketplaces and well-known brands, and names already held by another member.

When this happens, the check shows That name cannot be used — … Please choose another. or That name is already taken. Please choose another. Pick a different name and the check will run again.

Names reserved for you

If you have used an address before, it is kept for you for 12 months. When you type it again, the check shows Reserved for you — this was your address before, and no one else can take it. No other member can claim it during that period, so you can come back to the same address later.

Tip: Your .1smart.site address is free and stays with your site even after you add your own domain, so you do not need to get it perfect first time.

What you see while it builds

After you click Create my website, the page changes to show Building your website, along with the line This usually takes about a minute. You can leave this page — it keeps building.

You do not need to stay on the page or keep the tab open. The build continues on its own, so you can carry on with other work and come back.

Result

When the build finishes, the page shows your new address with a green Live pill, plus two buttons: Visit site and Log in to WordPress. Click Visit site to see your site as a visitor, or Log in to WordPress to start editing it.

Occasionally you will also see a note that reads Your site is ready. We're still finishing one or two optional extras in the background — nothing you need to do. Your website is fully usable at that point. The extras complete on their own and no action is needed from you.

Troubleshooting

The build did not finish

If something interrupts the build, the page says That didn't finish. Press the button to try again — nothing was charged and nothing was lost.

Click the button again to restart the build.
Wait for the Building your website steps to run through as normal.
Check that your address appears with the green Live pill.

Nothing is lost when a build does not finish, and your chosen address stays reserved for you, so you can retry with the same name.

You want a different address later

You can add another free .1smart.site address, or connect your own domain, at any time — without rebuilding anything. See "Managing your website addresses: main address, www, subdomains and removing a domain" and "Connecting your own domain to your website".
