Creating your automation workspace

Your automation workspace is your own private n8n installation, hosted by 1smart.link at an address you choose. This guide walks through creating it, opening it and signing in for the first time. The whole process takes a couple of minutes.

Note: You need a paid Smart Marketing plan to create an automation workspace. If you are on the Free plan, upgrade first and the Automations tab will unlock.

Open the Automations tab

Log in to your dashboard at www.1smart.link.
Click Automations in the left sidebar.
If you have not created a workspace yet, you will see the setup card with two things to fill in: your address and your owner sign-in.

Choose your address

Your workspace lives at a web address ending in .1smart.app. Whatever name you pick becomes yourname.1smart.app.

Under Choose your address, look at the suggested name already filled in for you. Keep it if you are happy with it, or clear the field and type your own.
Use lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens only. Short and memorable works best — something like your brand name or store name.
Watch the message under the field as you type. It checks the name and tells you whether it is available.

Some names cannot be used. Well-known brand names and common system words are reserved, and you will see That name is reserved. Please choose another. if you hit one. Pick a different name and the check runs again.

Tip: You can rename your workspace later if you change your mind, and your old address keeps working. So do not spend too long on this — a sensible name now is enough.

Set your owner sign-in

The owner account is how you sign in to n8n itself. It is separate from your 1smart.link login, so you need to set an email and password for it here.

Check the email field. Your 1smart.link email is filled in for you. Change it if you would rather use a different address for n8n.
Enter a password. It must be at least 8 characters and include a number and a capital letter.
Type the same password again in the confirmation field.

Important: 1smart.link does not keep a copy of this password. Save it in your password manager before you continue. If you lose it, see the section on forgotten sign-ins below.

Create the workspace

Click Create my automation workspace.

Wait. It usually takes about a minute.

You do not have to sit and watch. You can navigate away or close the tab — the workspace keeps being created in the background. Come back to the Automations tab whenever you like and the card will show the current state.

When it is finished, the card updates to show your address, a Running status, and an Open workspace button.

Open the workspace and sign in

Click Open workspace. n8n opens in a new browser tab.
On the n8n sign-in screen, enter the owner email and password you set earlier.
Click to sign in.

You are now inside your own n8n workspace, ready to build your first workflow — a website form feeding a spreadsheet, a notification when a new order comes in, a daily summary email, or whatever fits your business.

Tip: Bookmark your workspace address now. You will use it every time you come back, and any webhook URLs that n8n generates for you are built on this same address.

Result

You have a running automation workspace at your own .1smart.app address, with an owner account you control. The Automations tab in your 1smart.link dashboard is where you manage it from here — checking status, stopping and starting it, or renaming the address.

Managing your workspace afterwards

Changing your n8n password

You can change the owner password at any time from inside n8n's own settings. You do not need to come back to 1smart.link to do it.

If you forget the owner sign-in

Because 1smart.link does not store your n8n password, we cannot look it up for you. If you lose access to the owner account, contact 1smart.link support. On your request, we can change the owner email on the account so you can regain access.

Stopping and starting

The Stop button on the workspace card pauses your workspace. While it is stopped, your workflows do not run — nothing is triggered, and scheduled jobs do not fire. Click Start to bring it back. Use this if you want to pause everything temporarily without deleting anything.

Troubleshooting

The card says "One more step: your owner account"

This means the workspace itself was created and is running, but the owner account was not finished being set up. Your workspace is fine — you just need to complete the sign-in details.

Enter the owner email and password again in the fields shown on the card.
Confirm the password.
Continue.

If the same message keeps appearing after you try again, contact 1smart.link support and we will sort it out for you.

The name you want keeps showing as unavailable

Another member may already be using it, or it may be on the reserved list. Try adding a short word or number — for example your city, your category, or a short suffix.
