What is the Automations tab?
The Automations tab gives you your own private n8n automation workspace, hosted and looked after by 1smart.link. n8n is a visual tool for connecting the apps you already use and letting them pass information to each other without you doing it by hand. You will find the tab in the Smart Marketing section of the dashboard sidebar, just below Website.
Why it matters
Most small businesses lose hours each week to small, repetitive tasks. Copying a form entry into a spreadsheet. Checking whether a new order has come in. Sending yourself the same reminder every morning.
An automation workspace lets you set those tasks up once and then leave them alone. The work still happens — you just stop being the person doing it.
Because the workspace is yours, you are not limited to a fixed list of things 1smart.link has built for you. You connect whichever apps you like, in whatever order makes sense for your business.
What you can automate
Here are three generic examples to give you a feel for the kind of thing people build:
- A website form into a spreadsheet. Every time someone fills in your contact form, the details appear as a new row in a spreadsheet you already use.
- A new-order notification. When a new order arrives, you get a message so you can act on it straight away.
- A daily summary email. Once a day, an email lands in your inbox with the numbers or updates you care about, pulled together automatically.
These are starting points, not a menu. What you build is entirely up to you.
What is included
Your workspace comes with everything you need to start building on day one:

There is one workspace per account.
Who this is for
The Automations tab is included with every paid Smart Marketing plan at no extra charge. There is nothing additional to buy and nothing to install.
If you are on the Free plan, you will still see the Automations tab in your sidebar, but it shows an upgrade prompt rather than a workspace. Upgrading to a paid Smart Marketing plan unlocks it.
What we look after, and what you look after
The split is simple: we keep the workspace running, you decide what it does.
What 1smart.link looks after:
- Keeping your workspace up and running.
- Backing it up every night.
- Testing new n8n versions before offering them to you, so an update never arrives untested.
Note: 1smart.link never opens your editor and never sees your workflows. What you build inside your workspace is private to you.
What you look after:
- Building your workflows and deciding what each one does.
- Running them and keeping them working as your apps and needs change.
1smart.link does not build or debug workflows on your behalf. For help with building, n8n's own guides and community forum are the right place to go — both are linked from inside n8n itself, so you never have to hunt for them.
How to get started
Getting a workspace up is a short job. Open the Automations tab in your dashboard and click Create my automation workspace. You will be asked to choose a name for your private address, and the workspace is ready in about a minute.
From there, you can open the editor and start building, or connect your own domain if you would rather use an address you already own.
