Creating your first bio page
A bio page gives you a single link that holds everything you want to share — your website, social profiles, products, videos, and more. This guide walks you through creating your first bio page on 1smart.link, from clicking the create button all the way to publishing a live page your audience can visit.
Note: You need a free 1smart.link account to follow this guide. Sign up at
www.1smart.linkif you haven't already.
Navigate to bio pages
- Log in to your dashboard at
www.1smart.link/dashboard/. - In the left sidebar, click Bio Pages. This takes you to the bio pages list at
/dashboard/biolinks.
If this is your first bio page, the list will be empty. That's expected — you're about to create one.
Create a new bio page
- Click the Create new bio page button.
- Enter a page name. This is an internal label for your own reference — your visitors will never see it. Choose something that helps you identify the page later, such as "Instagram Main" or "Product Launch".
- Choose a slug. The slug is the URL path that appears after the domain, so your page will be available at
www.1smart.link/{slug}. For example, if you entermyshop, your page URL becomeswww.1smart.link/myshop. - Click Continue.
Tip: Keep your slug short, memorable, and relevant. Use lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens. Avoid special characters or spaces.
What if the slug is already taken?
Every slug must be unique across the platform. If the slug you choose is already in use, 1smart.link will automatically suggest an alternative. You can accept the suggestion or type a different slug of your own. This collision-retry process ensures you always end up with a unique, working URL.
Set up your profile card
After clicking Continue, the three-panel bio page builder opens. You'll see a widget panel on the left, the editing area in the centre, and a live preview on the right. The live preview updates in real time as you make changes, so you always know exactly what your visitors will see.
Start by setting up the profile section at the top of your page:
- Upload a cover image. Click the cover image area to open the Media Picker. Choose an image from your device or library. This image acts as the hero banner at the top of your bio page.
- Fill in your name. Enter the name or brand name you want visitors to see. This is different from the internal page name you set earlier — this one is public-facing.
- Write your bio. Add a short description of yourself, your brand, or whatever context helps your visitors. The bio field supports line breaks — press Shift + Enter to start a new line without creating a new paragraph. This is useful for formatting short lists or taglines.
Add widgets to your page
Widgets are the building blocks of your bio page. Each widget represents a piece of content — a link, a video embed, a social icon set, and so on.
- Browse the widget panel on the left side of the builder.
- Drag a widget from the left panel into the centre editing area to add it to your page stack.
- Once the widget is in place, click on it to expand its settings and customise each field — for example, a link widget will ask for a URL and display text.
- Repeat for every widget you want on your page. Add as many as you need.
Note: You must add at least one widget before you can publish. The Publish button remains greyed out until your page has at least one widget in the stack.
You can rearrange widgets by dragging them up or down within the stack. Check the live preview on the right to see how the layout looks after each change.
Publish your bio page
Once you're happy with your profile card and widgets:
- Click the Publish button in the top-right corner of the builder.
- Your bio page is now live and accessible at the URL you chose — for example,
www.1smart.link/myshop.
That's it. Share the URL anywhere — on social media profiles, in email signatures, on packaging, or in marketing materials.
Understanding your bio page URL
By default, every bio page uses the 1smart.link subdomain, giving you a URL like www.1smart.link/{slug}.
If you have a Pro plan and have configured a custom domain, your bio page can also be served from your own domain. This means your page URL could look like yourdomain.com/{slug} instead. Custom domain setup is covered in a separate guide.
Troubleshooting
The Publish button is greyed out
The Publish button only becomes active once you have added at least one widget to your page. Drag any widget from the left panel into the stack, and the button will become clickable.
The live preview doesn't match what I expect
The live preview updates in real time. If your changes aren't appearing, try scrolling within the preview panel — your content may be further down the page. Also confirm that you have saved any widget field edits by clicking out of the field or pressing Enter.
My slug was changed automatically
If the slug you entered was already taken by another user, the platform suggests an alternative to ensure uniqueness. You can edit it to something else that's still available.
What happens next
Your bio page is live and ready to share. From here, you can go back to the builder at any time to add more widgets, update your bio, swap the cover image, or change any content. Every edit you publish updates the live page immediately.
Consider exploring the widgets library to make your page more engaging — add social links, embed videos, showcase products, or include call-to-action buttons. The more useful your page is to visitors, the more value you get from sharing a single link.
